Basic Black and White Photography

Students will learn Basic Camera functions, Development of Black and White Film, Printing a Contact Sheet, Using an Enlarger and Printing. This is a requirement for all the other classes.

Four classes lasting four weeks

Black and White Photography 201

An in-depth use of Basic Camera Functions including Shutter Speeds, Depth of Field, Film Exposure, and the use of color filters in B&W film exposure. The use of B&W Contrast filters in the dark room will be discussed. Along with making the Expressive Print using Dodging and Burning Techniques, Sepia Toning and a picture mounting demo. A one-day outdoor workshop will be conducted. Students will than display their work the final week during a potluck dinner.

Six classes lasting five weeks

 

Black and White 4x5 Pin Hole Photography

 The use of a Wood 4x5 Pin Hole Camera where we will Explore the use of Paper Negatives and Sheet Film. By approaching photography from the fundamental elements of time, light and an image receptor, lens-less photographers have used the unique optical properties of the system to express memorable visions. A one-day outdoor workshop will be conducted.
