Name of Class: Black and White 4x5 Pin Hole Photography

 INSTRUCTOR: DAVID RICHERT

 OUTLINE: Students will learn use, composition and exposure with a 4x5 Pin Hole Camera. Through the use of paper negatives and standard sheet film they will take, develop and print images they capture.            

 Students will need to have attended Hickam’s Basic Photography Class or talk to the instructor. Have a working understanding of their cameras and know how to develop and print in B&W.

 OUTLINE: THREE-SESSION CLASS TOTALING TWO WEEKS

             Week 1) Thursday: Intro to Pin Hole Photography, How to use the Camera and Film backs. Measuring light and adjusting for long exposures. Loading of film backs both paper and film.

             Week 1) Saturday: A short workshop in the area using paper negatives, develop print and evaluate. Reload film backs with film each student will than take the camera make images and bring back week 2.

             Week 2) Thursday: Rotary processing of film and contact printing.        

 SUPPLIES:                 A Tripod is highly recommended for all serious work.

                                    Printing paper of your choice but will require 8x10 for class.

PROVIDED:              The use of the dark room and film developing during the course of the class. 4x5 Paper & Sheet film for project.

 

ATTIRE:                     Lab work – casual
