1) 58 Buick
|
Found this
car in a street in Gent nicely posed half in the shade! I
thought it was 50s and a chum who has written a book on such things told me
what it was. I hope he was right! |

This Kodak
Retinette 017 used to belong to my father who left it to me. It has
sentimental value, is a bit battered but it does take sharp shots. Film was
Foma 100 dunked in Tmax. Neg scanned with Epson 3170. Slightly cropped and
USM only.

2) 50's theme
"Grease" |
The pix were
taken on two Sundays in a row. The 17th of April, in very bright evening
light for "Warehouse Rock", and the 24th, on an overcast day for "Grease".
The places I stood for both were about 25 feet apart. The warehouses are
being converted into condos, and I shot the huge poster of the two smug
looking people through a huge, articulated, Volvo loader, which "needs
grease to live". |

the waist level finder was nearly unusable. |

4)
"50 Years" |
This is Barb, one
of my neighbors. For 50 years she and John shared a life. Fifty years of
love and companionship, good times and bad, tender and rough. Children
came, grew, matured, with their guidance. And they eventually left, only to
return at intervals with children of their own. Barb and John stayed
together through it all...Then John left. He had taken all he could take.
He just left. Barb still loves him, still wears the ring he gave her 50
years ago. Now Barb keeps John in a box, on her dresser. There is a pinch
of mortal residue and 50 years of memories in that box.

"50 minutes without fish" |
Taken in a walk near the beach in Malvin

of rain and these two 50 year older were trying to get a fish from the River
Plate without much success.

. Ikoflex Ib with Novar 75/3.5, manufactured 1954-56 according to several

"America’s First Irish Coffee" |
-
- I was wandering
around the Marina in San Francisco around 8 AM on June 3 when I ran across
the Buena Vista bar at the corner of Hyde and Beach. On a plaque outside,
it is noted that the first Irish Coffee in America was made here in 1952.
What could I do? I went inside, ordered one up ($6 + tip), and got the
shot! By 9 AM, I was feeling rather happy! I personally love the color
in the background most.

B) Information about the Picture.
A group of people in their late 50s get together in the beach to
play a game called Tejo with colored wood disks. I like to walk in
Montevideo's beautiful Rambla and look around for photo opportunities. I
liked the way the trees frame the group in the distance. Taken in June 2005,
date forgotten.

B) Information about the Picture.
It shows a reflection of the Justice Department building in
Montevideo. It has 25 square spaces in front, which added to the reflections
make for 50 squares. Taken in Plaza Independencia, Montevideo, after a heavy
rain, July 03/2005. I was walking around mixed with the tourists and was
captured by the reflections in a poodle near a lamp. The lamp base, colonial
style, is visible in the photo.

D) Agfa Isolette II.
Produced in the early 1950s. It uses 120 roll film
with a 6x6 negative. I
recovered the camera with leather and repaired the
bellows with gaffers tape.
There will be a new bellows in the future. The
shutter is a Prontor SV
with 8 speeds from 1 sec to 1/300 plus B. M and X
flash sync. The lens is an
Apotar 85/4.5. Focus is by estimate but keeping
it between f8 and f16
solves any focus problems. Film is Tri-X. Negative
scanned on my Epson
Perfection 2450 Photo. A great pocket camera!

Model. Produced from 1950 to 1961. It uses 620

a double element meniscus.
The shutter is a simple spring w/sliding

speed is around 1/30 plus B. Focus is around 2

B) Named
for a son of Henry Ford, the Edsel was introduced to the public on the eve
of an economic recession. The bold styling features did little to help
slumping sales, which were discontinued after only three years of
production. Less than 6,000 Edsels survive today, with this one a candidate
for significant restoration.

Minolta A 35mm rangefinder s/n 103997. Production of these chubby
rangefinders began in 1955, with the very sharp Chiyoko Rokkor 45mm f3.5
lens lasting for the entire five year production run. Shutter speeds,
controlled by a knurled knob on top of the camera body are B, 2, 5, 10, 25,
50, 100 and 200. This shot was taken on Kodak Gold 100 print film scanned as

The shot was taken just
down the road from our house in Amsterdam.
Hand-held with the Moskva
5, around f11 at 1/100s. Film is Ilford
FP4+ developed for 20
minutes in Rodinal 1+100.
The camera was a $20
purchase from every addicts' favourite haunt. It is
not in the best cosmetic
condition, with self timer tab broken off
(although the self-timer
still works) and the double exposure prevention
mechanism removed. The
door catch mechanism is not brilliant either.
However, the lens is
spotless and the RF is absolutely spot on. Camera is
from the late fifties, as
far as I know.
