History of Stanley and Theresa Reichert

Stanley and Theresa Reichert were born and married in Russia. Stanley was born on 25 October 1881, the son of Jacob Reichert and Catherine Heck, Theresa was born on 2 Feburary 1886, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Ebertz.
Stanley and Theresa journed by train from Odessa to the Libau where they caught a steam ship to England.
Stanley and Theresa Reichert, Paul and Veronica Reichert, Julius and Rosa Schock, Conrad and Flora Ackerman, and Matt Schock, all brothers and sisters; left Libau, Russia by ship on 6 May 1911 for Liverpool, England. All the above, then left Liverpool on the ship "Canada" which arrived in Quebec on 11 June 1911, except for Stanley and Theresa Reichert and their sons, who took a later ship called the "Teutonic" which arrived in Quebec on 25 June 1911. Stanley and Theresa Reichert then went to Macklin, where they found land at South Rosenheim, near Bodo. They lived out in the open until a sod house could be built. Paul and Veronica who lived at Maclean, near Regina, came to join Stanley and Theresa Reichert for their first winter in Canada. The Reichert house was quite crowed, as they all lived together in the sod house. There was Stanley and Theresa, their three children- Frank, Leonard and Rosemary, Paul and Veronica, their two children- Odelelia and Stanley.

There wasn't any more land available around South Rosnheim, but they found some land approximately 22 miles south of Macklin. They then built another sod house on Paul Reichert's land and later Stanley Reichert build a wood house approximately one half mile west on the SW quarter of 34-35-28 but there wasn't enough water there, so he bought the north half of 34-35-28 West of the 3rd from Mr. Sweeney. There in 1924 he build the house that still stands today.

In 1924, Stanley and Paul Reichert sent their father money to come to Canada. He spent time with both families until his death on 28 December 1935 at the age of 84. He is buried in Saint Donatus Cementery.

Stanley and Theresa had a family of 10 children. They are Frank, Leonard, Rosemary, Albert, Tony, Kate, Elizabert, twins Peter and Jacob, and Lucy. They retired to Macklin in 1950. Stanley Reichert passed away on 2 July 1955. Theresa Reichert lived alone for some time, then went to Hillcrest Lodge in Provost, and later to the Nursing Home in Wilkie. She passed away on 24 January 1970. They are both buried in the Lakeview Cemetery at Mackiln Sask.

This history was submitted by Dianne Lubianesky and Kathleen Schaab.

The above history was taken from a booklet produced by the Reichert Reunion Committee 1987. The booklet also contained a list of all the descendents of Stanley and Theresa Reichert. Much of that information was used in the generation of this Reichert Family Tree.
